ICE SHELF COLLAPSE!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008
I just heard this morning that a The British Antarctic Survey discovered a huge piece of Wilkins Ice shelf in the Antartic is "hanging by a thread". Apparently it is 7 times the size of Manhattan!!!

I found a link to the press release by Britain's National Environment Research Council:

http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/press/press_releases/press_release.php?id=376

And another link to USA Today's story on it:

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/2008-03-25-antartica--collapse_N.htm

This is some rather disturbing news and big phat wake up call !! Interesting timing with EARTH HOUR being only 56 hours away!

The night will include the launch of a new website (Dreamyz), a preview screening of "One Dream", refreshments, prizes games and Rwandan crafts. “Green” Videos and Guitars

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Hey Folks ...

Just wanted to talk about the "Green"- ness of my new video Big Yellow Machines. It was filmed at The Foster Memorial Concert Series in Leaskdale Ontario. The Foster Memorial building uses no power for their concerts. As you could hear, if you watched the video, the acoustics at this particular venue are out of this world! So the only power that was used to make that video (as well as Brace Yourself) was the camera that filmed it and this ol' computer of mine, which makes it a more environmentally friendly video than most.

Now for the "Green" guitars ... I just bought a new acoustic guitar made by Art & Lutherie (Godin). It, believe it or not, is a "green" guitar. It was made in a small town in Quebec using 95% Canadian wood. The thing that makes it so enviro is fact that Art & Lutherie DO NOT CUT DOWN TREES to make their guitars, they use only trees that have already fallen on their own .... how COOL is THAT??!!

Let  me know what you think of the new videos!

Peace, Love and Cleaner Air,

Grainne
